Does Development Strategy Affect Elders'Subjective Well-Being?——Based on the New Structural Economics
Based on the theory of new structural economics, this paper measures the devel-opment strategy index of China's provincial administrative units in four years, matches it with the China Health and Pension Longitudinal Survey(CHARLS)data in the same year, and uses the panel ordered Logit model to investigate the influence and mechanism of development strategy on the subjective well-being of the elderly. The study finds that:first, although the development strategy index of various regions in China shows a downward trend as a whole, there are still large regional differences;Second, the implementation of development strate-gies that violate comparative advantages will reduce individual subjective well-being,and the effect has obvious temporal and spatial differences;Third, the mechanism test shows that development strategies that violate comparative advantages will lead to lower levels of social security, greater income inequality, and thus reduce the subjective well-being of the elderly. Finally,it is recommended that all regions should focus on implementing development strate-gies that follow their comparative advantages in order to improve the happiness of the elderly and the people as a whole, which in turn will contribute to the realization of Chinese-style modernization.
