Driving Effect Analysis on Innovation Output Change of China's High-Tech Industry Based on LMDI Approach
Based on the extended Kaya identity and LMDI decomposition method, this study identifies the driving factors and their corresponding contributions in the innova-tion output of high-tech industries of 30 Chinese provincial-level regions during the period 2000-2018.The innovation output is decomposed into the innovation input intensity effect, innovation efficiency effect and regional economic structure effect according to the driving mechanism. The results indicate that the innovation input intensity contributes the most to innovation output. The effects of innovation efficiency and regional economic structure are negative. This study further analyzes four major economic areas of China and identifies the channels through which each area conducts their innovation activities. The empirical findings provide information for policy measures to implement innovation-driven strategies.
