The Relationship between Smartphone Dependence Tendency and Sleep Quality among Medical Students
Objective To evaluate the relationship between smartphone dependence tendency and sleep quality among medical students, and provide guidance and help for improving their sleep quality. Methods The general information survey scale,smart-phone addiction tendency(SAPS)scale and pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)scale were used to conduct the questionnaire sur-vey.Results The phenomenon of medical students excessively using smartphones is very common. The smartphone dependence tendency of male medical students was significantly higher than that of female medical students(P<0.05),and the smartphone de-pendence tendency of only children was significantly higher than that of non-only children(P<0.05).The overall PSQI average score of medical students was(4.14±3.16),and there was no correlation between PSQI score and gender, grade, hometown, and whether they were only children.Smartphone dependence tendency was positively correlated with sleep quality(r=0.48,P<0.05).Conclusion Medical students'dependence on smartphones has a negative impact on their sleep quality and health. It is suggested that medical students should improve their self-awareness of health concern and use smart phones scientifically.
