A Study on the Formation Process of the Southern Section of the Taihang Mountains in the Cenozoic Era
A detailed study was conducted on the uplift process of the southern section of the Taihang Mountains from four as-pects:geomorphological features, distribution, deformation, and deformation time.It was found that the uplift process of the south-ern section of the Taihang Mountains since the Cenozoic era was intermittent, and the amplitude of each stage of uplift was estimat-ed.Based on this, the main period of uplift in the southern section of the Taihang Mountains with relative differences was inferred; The formation era of the commonly developed"U"shaped valley in the southern and middle sections of the Taihang Mountains has been demonstrated. Finally,it can be concluded that the formation of the tectonic landforms in the southern section of the Taihang Mountains is the result of differential activities in different blocks.Vertically, the central part is highly active, followed by the north and south ends, and horizontally,it has the characteristics of strong on the east side and weak on the west side.
