Digital Economy and Agricultural and Rural Modernization in China:Moderating Effects Based on Rural Entrepreneurial Activity
Based on panel data from 30 provinces(autonomous regions,municipalities directly under the central government)from 2011 to 2022,an evaluation index system for digital economy and agricultural and rural modernization was established.The en-tropy weight method was used to calculate the development index of digital economy and agricultural and rural modernization.Then,panel regression models were constructed to test the relationship and possible heterogeneity between digital economy and agri-cultural and rural modernization.Finally,the potential moderating effect of rural entrepreneurial activity was examined.The research results indicate that firstly,the level of digital economy and rural modernization development has been increasing year by year,and it shows a clear trend of high in the east and low in the west,and high in the south and low in the north;Secondly,the digital economy has significantly promoted the efficiency of agricultural and rural modernization,with a significant promoting effect in the eastern re-gion and not significant in the western region.The promoting effect of the digital economy on agricultural modernization is signifi-cantly greater than that on rural modernization;Finally,entrepreneurial activity has played a significant regulatory role in the process of promoting agricultural and rural modernization through the digital economy,and there is a double threshold effect,that is,a rea-sonable range of entrepreneurial activity can help to play a promoting role of the digital economy in agricultural and rural moderniza-tion.
