Finite element method is used to analyze the inner instability, wrinkling, and cross-sectional distortion of thin-walled large-diameter PE pipes with added steel wire mesh during the bending process.Using a combination of theoretical analysis,numeri-cal simulation, and experimental research, finite element analysis was conducted on the bending of thin-walled large-diameter PE pipes.Based on the analysis of the bending mechanism and failure forms of PE pipes,it was found through examples that the bend-ing stress of PE pipes with steel wire mesh is mainly carried by steel wire mesh.Combined with bending tests,it was found that add-ing steel wire mesh can effectively enhance the stiffness of pipes, suppress the occurrence of inner instability wrinkling and cross-sectional distortion during pipe bending. The finite element numerical simulation results are consistent with the experimental results, indicating the reliability of finite element numerical simulation analysis.
