From entering the field of journalism till 1948,XU Zhucheng had always adhered to the principles of"celibacy"and"detachment from the party".From the beginning of 1948,he suddenly gave up his principles and began to"turn left"and move towards the Communist Party of China.On the surface,this shift seemed to have been made out of necessity due to the changing circumstances,but if carefully analyzed,it could be found that his"left turn"was actually a choice with historical inevitability.His"left turn"appeared to be a little sudden on the surface,but if we consider the whole process of his journalism career and the historical evolution of his understand-ing and attitude towards Kuomintang and the Communist Party,it was actually not sudden,but a process of gradual change of understanding and attitude.Specifically speaking,his understanding and attitude towards Kuomintang went through a transformation process from praise and support to dissatisfaction and criticism,and further to disap-pointment and despair,while his understanding and attitude towards the Communist Party underwent a transforma-tion process from hostility and misunderstanding to gradually understanding and a certain degree of favor,and then to developing a gradual deepening of understanding and producing a certain degree of psychological and emotional acceptance.In this process,he once advocated and supported"the third way",but with the bankruptcy of"the third way",he finally realized that accepting the help and leadership of the Communist Party of China was the only way out for him and for the Chinese nation.It was in this situation that he resolutely chose to"turn left"and move towards the Communist Party of China.
