Empirical Analysis of the Spatial Effects of New Urbanization on the Income Gap between Urban and Rural Areas
Based on panel data from 31 provinces, cities, and autonomous regions(excluding Hong Kong,Macao, and Taiwan)from 2013 to 2022,this paper constructs an SDPD spatial dynamic panel model and a GWR geographi-cally weighted regression model. The empirical results show that the short-term effect of new urbanization on the urban-rural income gap is positive, while the long-term effect is negative. The overall trend is characterized by first expanding and then shrinking, and there is a short-term spatial spillover effect, which will expand the urban-rural income gap in adjacent areas in the short term; The impact of new urbanization on the urban-rural income gap exhibits regional heterogeneity.Based on this, each region should promote the process of new urbanization ac-cording to its local conditions, improve the dual structure of urban-rural education investment system, promote the coordinated development of industrial upgrading and urban-rural integration, promote the two-way flow of labor between urban and rural areas, and narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas.
