The Account of a Branch of Chinese Philosophy of Education:Academic Achievements of Educational Philosophy Scholars from Mainland China to Taiwan China in 1949
After 1949,many mainland China scholars of educational philosophy went to Taiwan China,most of whom studied in Western advanced countries.They not only had rich experience in running schools,but also brought important Western educational thinking of the 20th century into Taiwan,laying a profound foundation for Taiwan's philosophy of education.This paper briefly introduces the academic achievements of Chien-chung HUANG(黄建中),Tsuin-Chen OU(吴俊升),Zaiyang CUI(崔载阳)and Ivan C.CHAO(赵一苇)who studied in Britain,France and the United States,Peilin TIEN(田培林),Wentsin WANG(王文俊)and Schautan WU (吴兆棠)who studied in Germany,and Pen LIN who studied in Japan.In general,the two major trends of Brit-ain,the United States and Europe Continent(mainly Germany)are counterbalanced,and together they constitute the vision of Taiwanese scholars understanding foreign educational philosophy.The researcher also pointed out the three levels of Peilin TIEN,Tsuin-Chen OU and Chien-chung HUANG.Peilin TIEN absorbed the German Gei-steswissenschaftliche Pädagogik of Spranger(cultural pedagogy)and actively introduced it into China,taking the third level.Tsuin-Chen OU deeply studied Dewey's pragmatic education philosophy and actively reflected on its applicability to China,taking the second level.Chien-chung HUANG established his own thinking by extracting the essence of Western ethics into Chinese culture,helping him enter the highest level.In conclusion,the researc-her pointed out that these mainland China scholars to Taiwan laid a deep foundation for the academic development of Taiwan's philosophy of education.Their achievements in Taiwan deserves a place in the Chinese history of the 20th century.
