Design of 5G Broadband Base Station Antenna Based on Multimode Fusion
Aiming at the multi-band requirements of fifth-generation(5G)mobile communications, this paper designs a broadband dual-polarized base station antenna suitable for 5G base station applications. The base station antenna consists of two pairs of loop dipoles loaded with arrow-shaped branches, two Y-shaped microstrip feedlines and coaxial feedlines.Using the principle of multi-mode fusion, the broadband performance of the antenna is achieved by loading arrow-shaped branches, which generate a strong cou-pling with the dipole arm and excites a high-frequency resonant mode. The antenna is fabricated and tested, and the measured results show that the antenna has a port reflection coefficient is less than-10 dB,the port isolation is better than 21 dB,the in-band gain is(8.6±0.8)dBi,the half-power beamwidth is 67°±3°,and the cross-polarization discrimination is higher than 22 dB in the operating band of 3.4 GHz-5.1 GHz.The designed broadband dual-polarized base station antenna covers the dual 5G communication bands of 3.4 GHz-3.8 GHz and 4.4 GHz-5GHz,which can contribute to solve the deployment problem of base stations with tight site resources.
