Effects of extrusion speed and weld chamber height on forming quality of 6061 aluminium alloy tubes
The numerical simulation of 6061 aluminum alloy tube extruded by split die was carried out by using DEFORM-3D finite ele-ment software to study the effect of extrusion speed and welding chamber height on the welding quality of 6061 aluminum alloy tubes. The results show that when the extrusion speed is 12 mm·s-1 and the welding chamber height is 28-32 mm,the suitable average welding force and uniform grain distribution are obtained in the welding area. The grain distribution of tubes and welds with different parameters was further analyzed. It is found that the grain size at the weld is always larger than that at the tubes, and the variation laws of average grain size is consistent with that in the welding chamber.Considering the effect of welding force and grain size on the welding effect of 6061 aluminium alloy tube, the optimum extrusion parameters for this specification of 6061 aluminium alloy tube are obtained, that is when the height of the welding chamber is 32 mm and the extrusion speed is 12 mm·s-1,the 6061 aluminium alloy tube with good welding quality can be obtained by split extrusion.
