Influence of ultrasonic shot peening process parameters on surface quality of 42CrMo steel
The effect of ultrasonic shot peening process on the surface quality of 42CrMo ultra-high strength steel was studied by single factor experiment. The surface roughness, surface hardness, section microhardness and microstructure of 42CrMo steel before and after ul-trasonic shot peening were characterized and analyzed. The results show that with the extension of shot peening time, the surface rough-ness and surface hardness gradually increase until stable, the stable values are 1.08 μm and 433.60 HV,respectively. The increase of ultrasonic amplitude and projectile diameter and the decrease of shot peening distance can effectively increase the intensity of ultrasonic shot peening of samples, and produce more severe plastic deformation on the sample surface.Although the surface roughness is improved, the deeper hardening layer and the grain refinement layer with gradient structure are obtained, which are 2.8 mm and 40 μm,respectively.
