Preparation of wood chip based mesoporous activated carbon and its efficient adsorption of Congo red
Using waste biomass sawdust as raw material,K2C2O4 as activator and egg shell as template, mesoporous activated carbon was prepared. The structure of activated carbon was characterized by scan-ning electron microscope(SEM),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and N2 adsorption-desorption experiments, and the adsorption performance of activated carbon for Congo red dye was investigated. The results show that when the mass ratio of sawdust to K2C2O4 is 1∶1.5,add an equal amount of egg shell to sawdust, the activation temperature is 800 ℃,and the activation time is 2 h,the specific surface area of AC-1 is 2 009 m2/g,and the mesoporous rate is 70.5%.The optimal adsorption capacity of AC-1 for CR is as high as 862.1 mg/g.The adsorption process is a single-layer composite adsorption process dominated by chemical adsorption. It conforms to the quasi-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir isotherm model.
