Study on efficient recycling of spent NCM523 cathode materials by deep eutectic solvents
A deep eutectic solvent with high reducibility and low viscosity was successfully prepared by u-sing ascorbic acid, choline chloride and water.Structural characterization of DES using infrared spectros-copy(FTIR)and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)spectroscopy for NCM523 cathode material recovery studies. The results show that the DES can achieve 100%extraction efficiency of nickel(Ni),cobalt(Co),manganese(Mn)and lithium(Li)from the cathode material under mild conditions(60℃,20 min). The leached metal ions can be efficiently recycling by the co-precipitation method.Precipitation efficiency of transition metal ions such as Ni,Co,Mn,etc.is more than 90%.The recycling method is sim-ple and cost-effective and can effectively reduce resource depletion as well as environmental pollution.
