Preparation of quaternized chitosan-agar hydrogel particles and their urea-loading properties
Using agar and quaternized chitosan with good water solubility as starting materials, quaternized chitosan-agar hydrogel particles were prepared by non-covalent bonding and the sustained-release property of quaternized chitosan-agar hydrogel particles on urea was studied. The structure of the product was char-acterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that quaternized chitosan-agar hydrogel particles with porous structure have been syn-thesized and successfully loaded with urea. The prepared hydrogel particles had good swelling rate(397.53%)and the encapsulation rate of urea(51.83%).The cumulative release rate of urea was 81.37%after 72 h at room temperature, showing a good slow-release effect. Therefore, this study provides a scientific basis for further development of novel and efficient agricultural slow-release materials.
