Preparation of menthol carboxamide/hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin inclusion complex and its thermal sustained-release properties
Using menthol carboxamide as core material,β-cyclodextrin and hydroxypropyl β-cyclodextrin as wall material, two inclusion compounds were prepared by co-precipitation and freeze-drying method, and their slow release properties at room temperature and high temperature were investigated. The struc-ture,morphology and composition of the inclusion compounds were characterized by powder X-ray diffrac-tion,scanning electron microscopy and Fourier infrared spectroscopy. The thermal stability of the inclusion compound was analyzed by thermogravimetric analyzer. The inclusion rate and slow release properties of the inclusion compounds at different temperatures were determined by UV spectrophotometry. The results showed that the inclusion rate of menthol carboxamide/hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin complex was 12.31%,which was higher than that of menthol carboxamide/β-cyclodextrin complex(9.55%).The pyrolysis temperature of the two inclusion compounds exceeds 300℃,which is much higher than that of menthol carboxamide(217℃).The inclusion compounds showed good thermal stability. After released at 25~120℃for a certain time, the cumulative release amount of menthol carboxamide/HP-β-cyclodextrin is only 14.94%~40.06%.The result exhibited that menthol carboxamide/HP-β-cyclodextrin showed good slow release performance.
