Effect of PMMA/SiC composite particles on the friction properties of recycled lubricant oil
Silicon carbide(SiC)has excellent characteristics such as strong high-temperature oxidation re-sistance,good wear resistance, and high hardness. After the surface of SiC particles was treated with silane coupling agent,in-situ polymerization grafting of polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA)chains was carried out for composite and functionalization, resulting in PMMA/SiC composite particles. The effect of PMMA/SiC composite particles on the friction performance of regenerated lubricating oil was studied. The results showed that the hydrophilicity and dispersibility of PMMA/SiC composite particles in oil were significantly improved, and the best anti friction effect was observed when the addition amount in regenerated lubrica-ting oil was 0.25%,which could reduce the friction coefficient of regenerated lubricating oil from 0.16 to 0.05,a decrease of 68.9%.PMMA/SiC composite particles added to regenerated lubricating oil deposit and fill the grooves and scratches on the worn surface during the wear process, playing a role in polishing and ball bearing. In friction and wear experiments under different working conditions,it can effectively cover the surface of the friction pair, reduce the friction coefficient, and make the friction pair have anti heavy load performance.
