Effect of timing it right intervention on caregiving ability and caregiving burden of caregivers of patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage
Objective:To explore the impact of an intervention program based on the timely model on caregivers'caregiving ability and burden among patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage.Methods:Seventy-two caregivers of patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage admitted to the neurosurgery department of a tertiary hospital in Shanxi Province from March to October 2023 were selected as study subjects.Patients admitted from March to June were included in the control group, and those admitted from July to October were included in the intervention group. The control group received routine neurosurgical care, while the intervention group received an intervention program based on the timely model in addition to routine care.Targeted interventions were conducted during the acute phase, perioperative period, discharge preparation phase, adjustment phase, and adaptation phase.Caregiving ability and burden were compared between caregivers in both groups across these phases. Results:In the end,32 participants in the control group and 33 participants in the intervention group completed the intervention. The caregivers in the intervention group had lower caregiving ability and burden scores before discharge, one month after discharge, and three months after discharge compared to the control group(P<0.05).There were significant inter-group effects, time effects, and interaction effects for caregiving ability and burden scores between the two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion:The intervention program based on the timely model can improve caregivers'caregiving ability and reduce their burden among patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage.
