Status quo and influencing factors of lip mucosal pressure injury caused by tracheal intubation in emergency patients
Objective:To explore the current status and influencing factors of pressure injuries on the lip mucosa among emergency intubated patients, aiming to provide a basis for clinical prevention. Methods:Using convenience sampling,166 intubated patients admitted to the emergency department of a tertiary hospital in Beijing from June 2022 to October 2023 were selected.General information and relevant factors of the patients were collected to investigate the influencing factors of pressure injuries on the lip mucosa among intubated patients. Results:A total of 32 patients(19.3% )developed pressure injuries on the lip mucosa;Logistic regression analysis showed that endotracheal tube size, duration of intubation, oral secretion status, and agitation level were influencing factors for the occurrence of pressure injuries on the lip mucosa among intubated patients. Conclusion:Pressure injuries on the lip mucosa among intubated patients mainly occurred on the upper and lower lips, with ulceration being the primary manifestation.Larger endotracheal tube size, longer duration of intubation, more oral secretions, and patient agitation can increase the risk of these injuries.
