Multi-beam Survey Line Layout Based on Regional Division
Multibeam line laying, including line direction and line spacing, has been studied for seabed topography with sloping and irregular surfaces. In the case of sloping sea areas, mathematical proofs were used to conclude that parallel isobaths were the optimal direction for line placement, and a recursive formula was established based on the basic principles of multibeam line placement that minimized the total length of the lines and kept the overlap rate within the prescribed range. The formula is used to solve the spacing of survey lines. For the irregular sea area, the seabed topography is divided into a number of sea areas approximating the slope surface, and the least squares method is used to fit each area to the slope surface sea area, and further division is carried out for the areas with poor fitting effect.According to the solution formula for the sloping sea area, the survey line laying in each sea area is obtained separately, and finally the survey line laying scheme for the irregular sea area is summarized.
