Effects of Planting Density and Variety on Maize Lodging Resistance and Yield
Planting density is an important parameter for crops, especially maize.Density significantly affects lodging and yield.Lodging is a major risk factor in maize production. In recent years, the frequent occurrence of the fall phenomenon caused by wind and rain has led to issues such as crop failure, reduced yields,or challenges in mechanized harvest. Therefore,it is of great significance to study the effect of maize density on lodging and yield.Three main maize varieties in production were used as the research object to investigate the lodging resistance characteristics of each variety through different densities, with six densities applied across three repeated planting cycles. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of planting density on lodging resistance, the effect of plant-ing density on yield components, and the quantitative degree of the effect of planting density on yield. This analysis aims to provide a foundation for determining the optimal planting density interval of maize in Huang-Huai-Hai area.
