Effects of Different Rootstocks on Yield,Quality and Mineral Elements Absorption in Zaojia 84-24 Watermelon
In order to understand the influence of different rootstocks on watermelon yield, quality and ab-sorption of mineral element, this experiment used pumpkin('Jingxinzhen No.2'),gourd('Qinkang-shuigua'),and wild watermelon('Yongshi')as rootstocks, grafted with Zaojia 84-24 watermelon.Morpho-logical indicators, yield, quality indicators, and absorption of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, and magnesium in watermelon were measured and analyzed. The results showed that all three rootstocks increased the fruit weight compared with the self-rooted watermelon, with the largest fruit weight of watermelon grafted onto'Jingxinzhen-2',being 3.75 kg.Rootstocks had no significant effects on the soluble solids content. However, compared with the self-root watermelon, the vitamin C content of grafted watermelon decreased, while the lyco-pene content increased.Watermelon grafted on the"Qinkangshuigua"rootstock exhibited the highest citrulline content.'Jingxinzhen-2'rootstock increased the absorption of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium.'Qinkangshuigua'rootstock increased the absorption of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, while the'Yongshi'rootstock increased the absorption of nitrogen, potassium, calcium and magnesium.Therefore,"Jingx-inzhen No.2"can be recommended for watermelon cultivation.
