Correlation and Path Analysis of Agronomic Traits and Yield of Maize in Mu Us Sandy Area
The study compared the agronomic traits of 20 maize varieties and conducted correlation and path analysis to determine the relative importance of each trait on yield, providing a basis for improving quality and ef-ficiency of the maize industry in the Mu Us sandy area. The results indicated that:(1)'Sanbei 89','Jinkeyu 4',and'Hesheng 209'are suitable for cultivation and extension in the Mu Us sandy area of Yulin.(2)Yield is significantly positively correlated with 100-grain weight, number of grains per row,ear height, and number of rows per ear,and negatively correlated with lodging rate, while positively correlated with empty stem rate.(3)The number of rows per ear exhibites the highest direct positive effect on yield, followed by the number of grains per row;meanwhile, lodging rate has the greatest direct positive effect on yield, and the discount rate has a greater direct negative effect on yield. Therefore,in the screening process of maize varieties in the Mu Us sand-y area,it is essencial to consider increasing the number of rows per ear and the 100-grain weight, optimizing ear position and lodging resistance, and accounting for interactions among agronomic traits.
