To investigate the effect of 60Co-γ irradiation on the growth and development of Phalaenopsis or-chid and the variation of plants after radiation treatment. Two Phalaenopsis cultivars'Zhengnong Huofenghuang'and'Zhengnong Hongyun'were treated with different doses of 60Co-γ radiation to explore its effect on the growth dynamics and ascertain the optimal range of mutagenesis dose. The results showed that:(1)60Co-γ ra-diation significantly influenced the growth and development of Phalaenopsis plants, with Zhengnong Hongyun'ex-hibiting heightened sensitivity to the irradiation;(2)SPAD values of plants increased first and then decreased with the increase of radiation dose,'Zhengnong Huofenghuang'and'Zhengnong Hongyun'had the highest av-erage SPAD values at 60Gy and 40Gy,respectively.(3)Radiation-induced phenotypic variations in plants were diverse, including leaf thickening observed at lower doses(10Gy)and floral alterations at 25Gy.Radiation doses of 40Gy inhibit flowering in Phalaenopsis plants, suggesting an optimal mutagenic dose range of 10~40Gy for Phalaenopsis mutagenesis breeding. This study provides a theoretical foundation and practical dose guidelines for Phalaenopsis mutagenesis breeding in the future.
