Effect of Altitude on Quality of Flue-cured Tobacco in Ankang
To study the correlation between the quality and style characteristics of three grades of tobacco leaves(B2F,C3F,X2F)of'Yunyan 99'from Yunnan at different altitudes,we selected the altitude range of 355~1 500 meters in the Bashan area of the Qinling Mountains.'Yunyan 99'was used as the research object to explore the effects of different altitudes on the conventional chemical composition and sensory quality of flue-cured tobacco. As altitude increased, there were differences in the changes in the conventional chemical composi-tion and style characteristics of different grades of tobacco.Among them, nicotine, total nitrogen, and the ratio of two sugars in B2F grade tobacco showed a downward trend, while total sugar, reducing sugar,potassium,chlorine,sugar-alkali ratio, and potassium-chlorine ratio showed an upward trend. At the same time, the higher the altitude, the higher the aroma, temperament, and quantity of B2F grade tobacco, while the concentra-tion,vigor,impurities,and irritancy decreased accordingly.Nicotine, reducing sugar, chlorine, total nitrogen, and the ratio of two sugars in C3F grade tobacco showed a downward trend, while total sugar,potassium,sugar-alkali ratio, and potassium-chlorine ratio showed an upward trend. At the same time, the higher the alti-tude,the more fragrant the C3F grade tobacco was,the more impurities and irritants it had, while the concentra-tion and intensity decreased.Nicotine, chlorine, total nitrogen, and the ratio of two sugars in X2F grade tobacco showed a downward trend, while total sugar, reducing sugar,potassium,sugar-alkali ratio, and potassium-chlorine ratio showed an upward trend. At the same time, the higher the altitude, the higher the aroma, aroma content, concentration, and intensity of X2F grade tobacco, while the impurities and irritancy decreased. In con-clusion,with the increase in altitude, the total sugar,potassium,sugar-alkali ratio, and nitrogen-alkali ratio of different grades of flue-cured tobacco all maintain an upward trend. At the same time, the aroma and quanti-ty of flue-cured tobacco also increase with the increase in altitude, while other factors differ. Therefore,it can be considered that appropriately increasing the altitude of tobacco planting is beneficial to improving the quality of flue-cured tobacco and enhancing the sweet and fragrant taste of tobacco.
