Analysis of Meteorological Factors Affecting Growth and Fruit Quality of Mountain Apples in Yulin Region of Shaanxi
Based on data from the Suide,Mizhi,Zizhou, and Qingjian national meteorological observation stations spanning 43 years(1980-2022),this study compared the meteorological conditions of typical apple-growing areas in Yulin with the climate suitability indicators for apple cultivation. It also conducted a linear trend analysis of the main meteorological factors for identifying both favorable and unfavorable factors affecting the growth and fruit quality of mountain apples. The study proposed targeted methods and suggestions for improving apple cultivation and fruit quality. The results showed that in the typical apple-growing areas of Yulin, the an-nual average temperature and the average temperature from June to August have remained within the optimal range for an extended period, with no risk of frost damage but a potential risk of heat damage. The primary unfa-vorable meteorological factor affecting apple growth was low precipitation.Although annual precipitation showed an increasing trend, the data indicated that, with the exception of Qingjian,Zizhou,Suide, and Mizhi are likely to experience relatively low precipitation over the next 10~20 years. The temperatures during the three key growth periods in the Yulin apple-growing areas aligned with the optimal indicators for high-quality apples in terms of sugar content, acidity, and hardness. Therefore, mountain apples from this region are characterized by excellent fruit quality, with a sweet and crisp taste, suitable acidity, and bright coloration during the ripening period, due to favorable light and temperature conditions.
