Ecological Restoration Model for High and Steep Waste Slopes in Mountainous Areas of Southwest China:A Case Study of Banchanggou in Shimian County
The resource-rich southwestern mountainous areas have seen extensive mining, resulting in numerous high and steep waste slopes. These slopes severely impact the regional ecological security pattern.Taking the high and steep waste slopes of Banchanggou in Shimian County,Ya'an City,Sichuan Province as an example, based on the identification of ecological problems in the high and steep waste slope area of Banchanggou, and combined with geological, ecological, and environmental engineering technologies,a typical ecological restoration model was explored. After adopting this typical restoration model, the ecological environment of Banchanggou was significantly improved:geological safety hazards were effectively controlled, soil erosion was controlled, vegetation site conditions were rebuilt, and the ecosystem corridor was reconnected, thus achieving positive succession and virtuous cycle of the ecosystem.
