Industrial Intelligence,Factor Mobility and Manufacturing Industry Innovation:Empirical Evidence from 283 Cities in China
Improving the innovation ability of manufacturing industry is the proper meaning of the development of new-quality productivity.Based on the data from 283 Chinese cities,this paper empirically analyzes the effects and diversified characteristics of industrial intelligence and its interactive synergy with capital and labor factor mob-ility in boosting innovation of regional manufacturing industries.It finds that industrial intelligence drives manufac-turing innovation,and it is positively moderated by the size of manufacturing employment and city size,and is stronger in non-resource-based cities,cities with relatively low industrial proportion and low aging degree.Synergy with factor mobility and its spatial spillovers are the two key mechanisms by which industrial intelligence drives manufacturing innovation.It relies mainly on capital and high-skilled labor factor mobility.Further analysis reveals that the spatial spillovers of manufacturing innovation from the synergy between factor mobility and industrial intelli-gence are"benefiting-thy-neighbor"in the eastern region and"beggar-thy-neighbor"in the central and western re-gions.Therefore,it is necessary to accelerate the transformation of intelligence,give full play to the role of indus-trial intelligence in factor allocation,and jointly promote the innovation efficiency of urban manufacturing.
