The Intertextual Approach of Mao's Comments to Li's Comments on Romance of the Three Kingdoms
Li's comments of Romance of the Three Kingdoms have an extremely important enlightening role in elucidating the arguments of Mao's comments.Mao's comments not only absorbed Li's comments, but also conducted in-depth explorations and refutations of his viewpoints. From the perspective of intertextuali-ty theory, there is a typical intertextual relationship between the two reviews. As the post text of Mao's comments, there are mainly three intertextual techniques for its predecessor's review:first, copying and misappropriating;Second, rewriting and expanding;Third, dialogue and refutation. It was the use of these intertextual techniques that Mao's comments either positively or negatively drew sufficient commentary nu-trients from Li's comments, thus melting its own flesh and blood and promoting the canonization process of The Romance of the Three Kingdoms. In short,Li's comments provided Mao's comments with a reference example for comments;on the other hand,Mao's comments indirectly explained and interpreted Li's comments while inheriting, developing, and criticizing them.
