Effect of Inter-Strip Force Simplification on Calculation Results of Slope Stability Coefficient
It is precisely because of the simplification of the inter-strip forces that leads to differences in the calculation results of slope stability coefficients obtained using different simplified methods of inter-strip forces,as well as the corresponding locations of slip surfaces. The finite element strength reduction meth-od,using the intrinsic structure relationship of the slope geotechnical body, discounts the strength of the geotechnical body and calculates the stress, strain magnitude and the distribution of the slope body, then slope stability coefficients is determined based on the computational convergence;and the potential sliding range of the slope is determined based on the maximum shear strain zone. The eventual calculation results are not affected by the simplified treatment of inter-strip forces.Taking the Australian Computer Society(ACS)General Exam Question 1 Homogeneous Soil Slopes as an example, this paper,by using the finite element strength reduction method(SRM)and a simplified method for the ultimate equilibrium of rigid bodies with different inter-strip forces, obtains the potential sliding area of the slope, the magnitude and distribution of the inter-strip force, and the stability coefficient, and after which a comparative study is conducted.Based on the statistics gained, the influence of inter-strip force simplification on slope stability coefficient and the influence of the sliding surface position are then analyzed and discussed. It is hoped that this paper can provide some reference for slope stability analysis and evaluation and reinforcement meas-ures.
