A Study of the Development Characteristics of Element Narrating and Viewpoint Narratingof Chinese Children Aged 5~6 Years
The study aims to investigate the development characteristics of element narrating and viewpoint narrating of 130 Chinese-speaking 5~6-year-old children by using wordless picture books to trigger chil-dren's narrating.The research findings indicate that both narratingabilities of preschoolers generally im-prove with age,with significant gender differences observed in certain dimensions.Scores for 6-year-old preschoolers'element narrating,including three dimensions of character relationships,initial events,and story endings,were significantly higher than those of 5-year-old preschoolers.Similarly,scores for 6-year-old preschoolers'viewpoint narrating,including three dimensions of frames of mind,character speech,and modifiers,were significantly higher than those of 5-year-old preschoolers.The abilities of element narrating and viewpoint narrating exhibit a significant positive correlation.
