Further Discussion on the Township Organizations and Related Problems of Qin's Qianling County
Four township names belonging to Qianling county are found in Qin bamboo slips unearthed in Li ye,namely,Du township,Qiling township,Erchun township and Pingyi township, among which Pingyi township is a name temporarily used by Du township. There are sixteen Li names belonging to Qianling county, namely,Quanzhong Li,Gao Li and Yang Li of Du township,Cheng Li,Zhenyang Li and Zhu Li of Qiling Township,Nan Li,Yu Li and Dongcheng Li of Erchun Township,as well as Shao Li,Ancheng Li,Shang Li,Wu'an Li,Ping Li,Yangcheng Li and Nanyang Li whose affiliations are unclear.Organizations at Li level had changed dramatically, and there were phenomena such as change of affiliation, change of name, and revocation. The relatively stable township organizations in Qianling county were three townships and five Li,namely,Gao Li and Yang Li under the jurisdiction of Du township,Cheng Li under Qiling township, and Nan Li and Dongcheng Li under Erchun township. The township organizations in Qianling county are far more complicated than we usually think, and in the case of the Qin dynasty, this unstable phenomenon of the township organizations is probably not an exception.
