The Appointment of the Kuomintang Party Cadres and Zhu Jiahua's Interpersonal Network During the Full-scale War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression
From the establishment of the National Government in Nanjing to the outbreak of the Full-scale War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the Kuomintang had not been able to establish a standardized personnel system, and the personal friendship inherent in the traditional society continued to work within the party.During the war,Zhu Jiahua successively served as the Secretary General of the Central Executive Committee of the Kuomintang and the director of the Organization Department of the Central Committee.Based on his own interpersonal resources and past experience,he mainly selected party officials from groups such as the alumni of Sun Yat-sen University and scholars studying in Germany, and gradually built up his personal power network in the party. In the generational change of the old and new party leaders of the Kuomintang,Zhu Jiahua and the two brothers-Chen Guofu and Chen Lifu engaged in the cleansing and replacement of each other's party cadres, which lead to more and more intense factional struggles. The appointment rules and logic of the Kuomintang party officials not only reflect the phenomenon of coexistence of modern political party system and traditional Chinese social culture, but also demonstrate the contest between party spirit and human nature within the Kuomintang.
