Research on the History of Chinese Medicine in a Global Perspective:Theories,Methods,and Historical Sources
The writing of the history of Chinese medicine in the West has undergone various models and perspectives in the past 300 years.With the turn towards global history at the beginning of this century,the history of disease and the history of medicine have become a mode of global historical narrative,making Chinese medicine and epidemics significant research subjects.How to define"Chinese medicine"from a global perspective and how Western scholars write the history of Chinese medicine,focusing on their points of interest,methodologies,and issues,represent the other's perspective for Chinese scholars.This article introduces the latest research approaches and findings of overseas scholars.While drawing on and referring to their research,it re-examines the definition of Chinese medicine and reflects on its boundaries.By establishing a dialogue mechanism between Chinese and Western scholars,it aims to foster more global perspectives,accommodating comparative studies while connecting across time and space.
