Research on literature reading seminar in the course of molecular biology for undergraduates
Molecular biology is an important basic course for undergraduates of biology and medicine. In order to improve the students'interest and enthusiasm in this course, the authors designed an integrated"flipped"classroom of literature reading seminar to promote the students'participation in class and their scientific thinking.Under the guidance of the teacher, students choose topics in-dependently,search literature, and deliver oral presentations in class, creating a good learning atmosphere with discussion and summa-rization.This approach works because the students learn to focus on reading and develop oral presentation skills, and they can also present research profiles in selected subject areas. The data analysis of students'performance in one semester shows that students'performance improved significantly, indicating the effectiveness of the flipped literature reading seminar.Being student-centered,this teaching method allows the students to participate more and improve their ability in literature retrieval, reading, scientific research,ex-pression,and teamwork.
