Histology and Embryology studies the microscopic structure of tissues and organs of human body,and it is also a basic pro-fessional course for medical students.In order to develop autonomous learning ability in students and improve their academic English skills,the authors introduced a novel model of BOPPPS to the experimental teaching of histology and embryology and established a set of specific implementation plans for this English course.The teaching plan includes six parts:lead-in,teaching objectives,pre-test,participation,post-test,and summary.The authors conducted a comparative study on the teaching effect of BOPPPS model with a pre-test-posttest design of three semesters,and the results show a significant increase in the accuracy rate of translating English terms into Chinese and the students'satisfaction with the teaching effect.The BOPPPS model proves effective in improving teaching quality and learning effect and it is worth further promotion and application.
