Correlation analysis of endoscopic motility and pathological characteristics in ulcerative colitis
Objective To analyze the correlation between endoscopic motility and pathological characteristics of ulcerative colitis. Methods Eighty patients with ulcerative colitis who underwent treatment from January 2020 to March 2023 were selected for colonoscopy examination.Clinicians took pathological sections of biopsy tissue during the endoscopic examination and observed them under a microscope. The detection of endoscopic activity, detection of lesion range, the relationship between activity grading and lesion range, and pathological examination results were analyzed. The relationship between endoscopic activity and pathological characteristics,as well as the correlation between endoscopic activity and lesion range and pathological characteristics, were analyzed. Results Patients in the remission stage accounted for 40.0%,patients with mild activity accounted for 25.0%,patients with moderate activity accounted for 18.8%,and patients with severe activity accounted for 16.2%.Patients with total colitis account for 21.2%,left hemicolitis accounts for 27.5%,proctitis accounts for 21.2%,and some regional colitis accounts for 30.0%.The proportion of patients with partial regional colitis and left hemicolitis during remission and mild activity were significantly higher than that of moderate and severe activity, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The proportion of patients with proctitis and total colitis in remission and mild activity was significantly lower than that of patients with moderate and severe activity, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Chronic active inflammation of the mucosa accounts for 53.8%,cryptic inflammation accounts for 50.0%,cryptic abscess accounts for 53.8%,granuloma accounts for 51.2%,and fissure-like ulcer accounts for 55.0%.The incidence of mildly active, moderately active, and severely active fissure-like ulcers under endoscopy were significantly higher than those in the remission stage, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).There is a positive correlation between endoscopic activity and lesion range and pathological characteristics(P<0.05).Conclusion There is a correlation between endoscopic activity and pathological characteristics in ulcerative colitis.Colonoscopy has high diagnostic value in ulcerative colitis and can provide guidance and reference for clinical disease diagnosis.
