Effects of eye health education and eye hygiene on visual fatigue of primary school students
Objective To evaluate the effect of eye health education and eye hygiene on the incidence of visual fatigue in primary school students through the investigation of visual fatigue and eye hygiene in primary school students after 2 years of eye health education.Methods Health eye publicity was carried out among pupils and their parents in all primary schools in Wuxi in 2018,and a questionnaire survey on visual fatigue and eye habits was conducted among pupils of grades 1~6 in 20 primary schools in 2020 by filling in questionnaires online and on the spot.Results A total of 2 217 valid questionnaires were collected,the awareness rate of eye health education was 85.12%,35 students had symptoms of visual fatigue,and the incidence of visual fatigue symptoms was 1.58%.The incidence of visual fatigue of different daily use time of electronic products,maximum time of daily use of electronic products,daily sleep time,daily outdoor activities,knowledge of home lighting,and use of anti-fatigue eye drops were significantly different(P<0.05).The incidence of visual fatigue of different daily exercise,diet,eye care had no significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusion The education and popularization of eye health education can effectively reduce visual fatigue in primary school students.
