Clinical efficacy of repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation in the treatment of upper limb spasms after stroke and its impact on upper limb motor function
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation in the treatment of upper limb spasms after stroke and its impact on upper limb motor function. Methods From August 2023 to May 2024,a total of 90 patients with upper limb spasms after stroke in our hospital underwent rehabilitation exercise. They were divided into a control group(45 cases did not receive repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment)and a study group(45 cases received repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment)based on whether they received repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment. The upper limb spasticity assessment score, upper limb motor ability scale score, neurological function and daily life activity ability scores and satisfaction of the two groups were compared. Results There was no statistically significant difference(P>0.05)in the upper limb spasticity assessment score, upper limb motor ability scale score, neurological function, and daily living activity scores between the two groups before treatment. After treatment, the upper limb spasticity assessment score and neurological function score of both groups decreased compared to those before treatment, and the decrease in the study group was greater than that in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the scores of upper limb motor ability scale and daily living activity scale in both groups improved compared to those before treatment, and the improvement in the study group was greater than that in the control group(P<0.05).The satisfaction of patients in the study group with the treatment effect was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy is beneficial for relieving upper limb spasms in patients with upper limb spasms after stroke, improving their upper limb motor ability, neurological function, and daily living activities, thereby enhancing their evaluation of treatment effectiveness.
