Unity,unification,integration,and one family are the traditional discourses of Chinese culture.Since 1911,there has been a modern pluralistic republican turn of integrating the monarch and the people,and of the upper and lower levels.The unity of Chinese civilization is central to and deter-mines the development of Chinese culture.That the cultural history not only precedes written history,but also the history of civilization,is a basic understanding of Marx and Engels'views on cultural civilization.It reflects the basic idea that civilization is included in culture and is its highest form and provides the fun-damental theoretical basis for understanding the unified determinism of Chinese civilization.Mr.Luo Rongqu's research on human civilization is based on the historical view of"a core and multi-lines",which forms"Luo Rongqu's path"of modern research and helps to set up the standards of cultural civili-zation.As a modern paradigm applied in China,the view of Chinese civilization based on the"moderni-zation with a combination of the main and auxiliary lines",is also highly advocated by the author,for it not only helps to reveal the intrinsic relationship between historical inheritance of Chinese culture and the modern development of Chinese civilization,but also contributes to interpret the speech given at the meet-ing on cultural inheritance and development.
