"Nationality",a Word not in Ancient Chinese Books——the Misconnection of Eastern and Western Discourse Systems
"Nationality",first introduced to China in modern times,is not a native word in ancient Chinese books, and its misconnection with Chinese discourse system had since a great influ-ence.In recent years, some scholars have traced its origin back to the mis-scription of"clan"as"nationality"in ancient books, believing that it's a concept of localization. It only adds to the con-fusion in our understanding.Recognizing the similarities and differences between the two different dis-course systems of the east and west is not only necessary for forging a firm sense of the Chinese national community, but also urgently needed for objectively interpreting the formation and development of Chi-na,a multi-ethnic country, the Chinese national community and the Chinese civilization.
