On the Unique Values of Chinese Path to Modernization
The Renaissance and the Enlightenment,with the people-oriented approach that fo-cuses on the value of human beings and the realization of their freedom,equality,and happiness,opened the way for the modernization of mankind.However,since the Industrial Revolution,the Western modernization,led by the logic of capital,has gradually deviated from the values of moderni-zation and eventually resulted in a paradox of modern values mainly because of its adherence to the val-ue concept of capital supremacy,the value standard of rationality supremacy,and the value orienta-tion of zero-sum game.Different from western modernization,the unique values inherent in the Chi-nese path to modernization take prosperity,democracy,civilization,harmony,beauty,as well as socialist core values and the common values of all mankind at its core.It has formed basic connota-tions of putting people first,pursuing common prosperity,achieving harmonious coexistence between man and nature and peaceful development.Therefore,the unique values inherent in the Chinese path to modernization have the key features as peoplehood,continuity,inclusiveness,and peace.It is of great importance for us to take the unique values in leading the building of the modern civilization of the Chinese nation,deepening the exchange and mutual learning of human civilization,and drawing a new world picture of human modernization.
