A Study on the Interaction between Industrialization and Urbaniza-tion in the Initial Stage of the Founding of PRC:a New Perspective to Explore the Initiation of Chinese Modernization
As an original proposition,the issue of the initiation of Chinese modernization is fun-damental to the overall understanding of Chinese modernization.Industrialization and urbanization,two elements central to modernization,become an important topic in the study of Chinese moderniza-tion.Chinese path to modernization is an independent creation based on China's reality and in line with Chinese characteristics.It breaks through the imitation and dependence on the Western path of industrialization and urbanization and the traditional"Soviet model",reflecting the autonomy of the Chinese way to promote modernization.To explore the issue of autonomy in the initiation of Chinese modernization from the narrative logic of the interaction between industrialization and urbanization in the initial stage of the founding of PRC,it is necessary to scientifically define the core concepts of"modernization","industrialization",and"urbanization"first,and then clarifies the theoretical mis-understandings like"modernization means industrialization","modernization is Westernization",and"industrialization equals urbanization",so as to explicate the research premise.Besides,to restore the historical truth,it requires clarifying the Chinese interpretation of the CPC's understanding of"indus-trialization"at the time,the CPC's reference to the"Soviet-style"industrialization path during the recovery period of the national economy,and the establishment of the"Chinese path to industrializa-tion"by the CPC during the period of Socialist Reform,in order to reveal the goals of urbanization led by"productive cities",the nature of urbanization based on the principle of"production service",and the requirements of urbanization oriented by"production management".It is also necessary to explore key issues such as"how is it possible","how is it presented"and"how is it directed"in the inter-active development of industrialization and urbanization,and to explain the logic of interaction.Moreo-ver,it is necessary to create an independent knowledge system,build a new paradigm of interactive development of industrialization and urbanization under the perspective of Chinese modernization,and open up a new industrial civilization and urban civilization for mankind.
