A Study on the Value Expression of Cultural Reproduction in Urban Reading Space
Urban public reading spaces have emerged with the continuous advancement of China's public cultural service system, encompassing public libraries, bookstores, newspaper kiosks, urban reading rooms, and community libraries.Cultural reproduction in urban reading spaces is comprised of forefront elements like physical, spiritual, and social spaces, along with backend elements such as spatial practices, representations, and the spaces of representation. These are interconnected through reader engagement, fostering the reproduction of power, knowledge, symbols, emotions, styles, and tastes within the domain. The primary function of cultural reproduction in urban reading spaces is to re-generate spiritual values. This is achieved via the regulation and resistance of physical spaces, the in-terpretation and reconstruction of spiritual spaces, and the differentiation and connection of social spaces, operating across the political, social, economic, and cultural dimensions of both actors and the broader social world. This process supports holistic human development and contributes to the estab-lishment of an urban cultural ecosystem.
