A Study on the Movement and Social Connections of Salt in the Northern China-Myanmar Border
The foundation of a community with a shared future for mankind lies first and foremost in a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationships based on premise of mutual existence.Due to the uneven distribution of salt,there has been for a long time a inter-ethnic,cross-region,and cross-border population movement in various geographical units and between ethnic groups along the northern border of China and Myanmar.It holds all ethnic groups into the production,circulation,and consumption chain of salt,and develops accordingly into a socially and culturally important salt-centered regional community.An interdisciplinary study of the perceptions and practices of salt among the ethnic groups along the northern border of China and Myanmar can reveal the multiple functions of salt in multi-eth-nic regional social ties.Besides,it presents the diverse expression of the identity of the Chinese na-tion by various cultural subjects in the process of integrating into the regional community because of salt,thus providing new perspectives and field cases for deepening the theoretical research of the com-munity with a shared future for mankind.
