Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of Wendan decoction and Banxia Xiexin decoction on mild to moderate vascular dementia.Methods:70 cases of patients with mild to moderate vascular dementia were selected and randomly divided into two groups,35 cases in each group.At first,both groups were given basic treatment.Then,the control group was treated with donepezil hydrochloride tablets,while the treatment group was treated with Wendan decoction and Banxia Xiexin decoction.One month as one course of treatment,and for three courses of treatment.Clinical efficacy as well as mini-mental state examination(MMSE),activities of daily living(ADL),TCM syndrome score and serum MMP level were compared between two groups before and after treatment.Results:The total clinical effective rate of treatment group was 88.57％,which was significantly higher than 71.43％of control group(P＜0.05).MMSE scores were increased in both groups after treatment(P＜0.05),and the treatment group was higher than control group(P＜0.05).ADL score,TCM syndrome score and levels of serum MMP-2 and MMP-9 were decreased in both groups after treatment(P＜0.05),and the decrease degree of treatment group was more obvious than that of control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion:Wendan decoction and Banxia Xiexin decoction have significant curative effect on patients with mild to moderate vascular dementia,which can effectively improve their cognitive function and daily living ability.
