Interpretation of"Light"Images in Moby-Dick from the Perspective of Energy Narration
The study of"light"images is an important subject in literature research. To interpret the images of"light"is helpful to deepen our understanding of literary works.Herman Melville adroitly employs the images of"light"in Moby-Dick.These images not only create a rich visual and psychological experience, but also play a very significant role in rendering the atmosphere, portraying characters and sublimating the theme. From the perspective of energy narration, this paper summarizes the images of"light"in Moby-Dick:sunlight,lamplight,firelight,doubloon's light, and the sacred light of angel, and explores the profound social and cultural con-notation behind these images. It is found that"Light"images reveal the social contradictions and the distortion of human nature in the process of capitalist industrial production and colonial expansion. In addition,it is also warned that human beings must build the har-monious relationship between nature and themselves while developing energy.
