A case report of intestinal obstruction caused by fetal fossilization in an 83-year-old abdominal pregnancy
Abdominal pregnancy refers to ectopic pregnancy implanted in the peritoneal cavity, with an incidence of approximately 1/10 000.Fetal petrification is a rare type of abdominal pregnancy, accounting for approximately 1.5%to 1.8%of abdominal pregnancies. In most cases, fetal fossilization can be diagnosed by abdominal X-ray,usually by chance, there are few relevant literature reports. At present, the reported age of patients seeking medical treatment is between 23 and 100 years old, with 2/3 of patients seeking medical treatment being over 40 years old.Due to the prolonged retention of petrified fetuses,it can lead to complications such as intestinal obstruction, pelvic abscess, rectal or vaginal fistula, and tubal infertility. At present, there are no reports of cases of fetal petrification combined with intestinal obstruction. This study explores a case of intestinal obstruction caused by fetal petrification in an 83 year old abdominal pregnancy in our hospital, providing reference for the diagnosis and treatment of such cases in clinical practice.
