Research progress on the mechanism of progesterone resistance
Progesterone resistance refers to the decrease or loss of the target tissue's response to progesterone when the expression level of progesterone receptors decreases, the proportion of subtypes is imbalanced, the function is abnormal,and/or there are mutations in progesterone related genes or signaling pathways.Endometriosis, adenomyosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, endometrial hyperplasia/cancer,recurrent miscarriage and other gynecological diseases have all been confirmed to have progesterone resistance.Progesterone resistance promotes the occurrence and development of diseases, and affects the clinical treatment effect of progesterone preparations. This article reviews the current status and related mechanisms of progesterone resistance in common gynecological diseases,in order to provide reference for improving the prognosis of patients with progesterone resistance.
