The effect of metformin combined with ethinylestradiol and progesterone in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome
Objective To explore the efficacy of metformin combined with ethinylestradiol and progesterone in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome. Methods 74 patients with polycystic ovary syndrome in our hospital were selected as the research subjects and divided into two groups using a random number table method, with 37 cases in each group. The control group received treatment with ethinylestradiol and cyproterone, while the exploration group received treatment with metformin combined with ethinylestradiol and cyproterone. The therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate and ovulation rate of the treatment group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05);After treatment, the fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol, triglycerides, fasting insulin, insulin resistance index, luteinizing hormone, and testosterone levels in the study group were lower than those in the control group, while the estradiol levels were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of metformin and ethinylestradiol and progesterone can effectively regulate glucose and lipid metabolism, improve insulin resistance, and enhance treatment efficacy in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome.
